Commodore's

Message

It is an honor to have been elected to the office of Commodore of the CBYCA for 2007. Be assured of my appreciation of your support and, more importantly, your support of the CBYCA.

As we enter into the 50th year of our organization, we have grown from the five founding Member Clubs to over 130 Clubs. As we grow in size, so

does our effectiveness in representing the recreational boating community.

Our Member Clubs represent boaters from Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Virginia and the District of Columbia.

CBYCA represents over 65,000 recreational boaters and is a significant factor in the Chesapeake Bay area. It has been estimated recreational boating adds $2.3 billion to the economy and provides 19,900 full time equivalent jobs in the Bay area.

Testimony on legislative Bills has been at record levels this season. Our legislative team is the strongest and most experienced ever. We hope you feel free to call on them whenever issues arise which your Association should be aware of and appropriate action is necessary.

Remember the mission of the CBYCA:

· To further yachting and yacht clubs in the Chesapeake Bay area.

· To act as liaison between member clubs and other organizations when requested

· To represent member clubs in all matters affecting their interests or interests of boatmen in general.

We hope you find this 49th edition of the CBYCA Roster Book useful and informative. Please consider using our advertisers as they provide the necessary funds to publish approximately 2,500 copies. The Roster Books are distributed to member clubs, patron subscribers, advertisers, Legislators, and various Government agencies.

We welcome your attendance at one of our Delegate or Board meetings. Both are open to any member of a member club.

Remember, we are here to serve. The CBYCA Board and Officers will do all we can to make 2007 a safe and successful boating season for our Member Clubs and their members.

Don Burton, Commodore
