COMMODORE PAM BUTLER'S MESSAGE at the CBYCA BALL
Good Evening Members, Family and Friends and Welcome,
It is with deep appreciation I say “Thank You” for this honor as the newly elected Commodore of the Chesapeake Bay Yacht Club for the year 2010.
You have entrusted into my care a great organization; one with a tremendous legacy. A legacy left by many dedicated Past Commodores and Officers, who have worked diligently using their talent and knowledge to ensure that the voice of boaters and the boating community is heard. As I assume my responsibilities, I vow to treasure highly, handle carefully, and guard well this legacy that will be mine to share.
As the CBYCA moves forward into a new year, we do not know what new issues or experiences will be ours, but as the membership continues to grow so will the issues. The CBYCA will continue to pursue these issues through the aggressive pursuit of legislative activities at the local, state, and occasionally, at the Federal level. The work that CBYCA does would not be possible without the generous support and alliance with our partner groups, such as the Boater Voter Coalition, Chesapeake Commodores Club, Delaware River Yachtsmen’s League, Pennsylvania Boating Association, Potomac River Yacht Clubs Association, Mid-Atlantic Association of Shrine Yacht Clubs, National Boating Federation, and Yacht Clubs of Maryland. These organizations are a tremendous asset as we seek to better represent the interest of our member clubs and the interest of recreational boating in general. As the saying goes “If we all stand together to focus on our passion and dedicate our powers as one, we will continue to be successful.”
With the assistance and cooperation of a dedicated staff who share a common love of the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries, we will strive to keep The CBYCA growing, and to do the best that is within us as we continuing building on the firm foundation of this great organization.
