Hello, my name is Kimberly Samm, and I am privileged to call myself the 62nd Queen of the Chesapeake. Since I was very young, I had always wanted to become a princess, and I have proudly surpassed that goal by being crowned Queen. The feeling is indescribable, and it is my honor to represent so many wonderful people. I hope to fulfill many goals, expand many ideas, and open many more opportunities to everyone
around the Chesapeake Bay.
I attend Eastern Technical High School where I am now a senior. I am enrolled in the Business Management and Finance course and I have received a banking internship that will take place in the school itself. I have remained an honor student throughout high school, and I have successfully been initiated into the National Honor Society and the Spanish National Honor Society. I am also a part of Future Business Leaders of America, (FBLA) which works to encourage young men and women to further their lives in the business field. I am an active learner who is interested in learning about anything that comes my way. I am open to all opportunities and ideas.

Over the past couple of years, I have been able to serve as Princess of Eastern Yacht Club. My experience as princess has enlightened me and motivated me to save the Chesapeake Bay. Pursuing bayscaping and oyster restoration will remain my top goals. I hope to expand these projects as much as possible while taking on new projects as well. I believe that as Queen I can truly make
an impact through these efforts with the help of the yacht club community.
I have lived on the Chesapeake Bay my entire life. However, my experiences as Princess and Queen have provided me with new perspectives on the Bay’s value and the opportunities that it offers to thousands of people. It provides recreation and a wonderful food source that has become a famous symbol for the state of Maryland. The Chesapeake Bay has made such an impact on my life,
that I honestly believe it would be very difficult to part from it. I find relaxation, fun, and excitement through the Bay, whether it’s through a simple boat trip or an invigorating ride on a jet ski. The Chesapeake Bay has something to offer to everyone, I am ready and willingto show that to each person I meet in the coming year.
I am truly appreciative of the encouragement I have received as Queen so far. I anticipate this experience to be enjoyable and momentous. The Princesses of each club have provided me with so much support and happiness.
I hope that if you come across any one of them you will acknowledge their wonderful dedication and work throughout their reign. Please remember to have a safe boating season, keep the Bay as clean as possible, and enjoy everyday as if it were your last.

I cannot even begin to
explain how honored I am to have been crowned Queen of the Chesapeake on June 1,
2008. I had always dreamt of being the Queen of the Chesapeake, but had never
thought it a reality until the magical moment that I heard my name called at the
Pageant. What made that day so meaningful was less about holding the title of
Queen, but more so the great people I would be representing for the rest of the
year and the difference I could make with my new role in the yacht club
community.
As
the 2007 princess of Baltimore Yacht Club, I feel that I was very fortunate to
be given the opportunity to extend my reign as princess to the 2008 boating
season. Traditionally, the Baltimore Yacht Club does not allow a princess to
run for two consecutive seasons. I was lucky enough to be the first Princess to
do so; giving me a second chance to become the Queen of the Chesapeake.
Over the past two boating seasons I have met so many people—from princesses, to officers, to members, and even Chesapeake Bay enthusiasts—who have become an important part of my life. I truly consider the yacht club community my second family and I want to thank that extraordinary family for all of their support and guidance during my time as princess. I am also looking forward to continued support during my reign as Queen and being able to meet even more people to add to my “family.” A special part of this “family” is the ladies with whom I hold a sisterly bond—the Princesses. They are all so unique and each brings something wonderful to our varied, but close-knit group of girls. They are each so bright and have outstanding personalities, which is why I feel so honored to share countless memories with them.
As Queen, it is my goal to be a role model for the Princesses across the Chesapeake Bay, along with everyone involved in the bay community. I wish to become the voice of the Chesapeake Bay by encouraging others to help keep our bay and our environment healthy for generations to come. I will work to create awareness of our bay’s fragile state, along with promoting what we can do to make a difference. I will be working directly with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation to help make these goals a reality. I highly recommend that everyone become a member of the Chesapeake Bay Foundation and do their part in helping “Save the Bay.” I, with the help of the Chesapeake Bay community, am determined to make a difference during my reign. If you know of anything I can do or attend as Queen, please let me know, for I want to become as involved as possible. I can’t wait to get to know everyone even better and to create another unforgettable year.
Always remember that everyday is a gift, so let’s treasure each moment.
Love,
Renae Hunter

On June 3, 2007, I competed with thirteen other beautiful princesses for the honorable title, Queen of the Chesapeake Bay. When it had been announced that I was the winner I was on cloud nine and my body was completely overwhelmed with emotions! That moment in time will always be remembered as it marks a milestone in my life. I can honestly say that I have never been so blessed with anything more wonderful.
When I was younger I always dreamed about being the Princess for Great Oak Yacht Club (GOYC). Eventually that dream became true and I was the happiest girl ever! Because of the immense passion and love that grew within me for the Chesapeake Bay I also dreamed to achieve the title of Queen. Throughout my seventeen years I have learned to dream and achieve my goals because many other great things flourish within our desires. My dream and desire came true and I am so grateful and truly privileged to be able to take on such wonderful responsibilities and duties as your Queen. I’ve been invited to so many yacht club events that I feel like all the officers and members of each and every yacht club are without a doubt becoming my second family. I could not have dreamed that I would meet and be with such special people.
As some of you may know, I am working closely with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. The Chesapeake Bay Foundation’s (CBF) two main goals are safety and preservation of the Chesapeake Bay and with that said I have taken on these very same goals during my reign as Queen of the Chesapeake. I am putting in time and effort to promote safety and will assist in saving and protecting the precious Chesapeake Bay in anyway possible. Please feel free to contact me to sign up and become an active member of the CBF.
To the current 2007 princesses and the upcoming 2008 princesses on the Chesapeake Bay, I can’t wait to hang out and grow close with each and every one of you throughout this year. It’s been very insightful for me to see all of the beauty and intelligence each and every one of you possess. Thank you for letting me be part of your life. I would like to thank every officer, yacht club member, friends, and family, who have supported and continues to support me since my crowning. A very big thank you goes to my parents who have been there every step of the way and I know I would not be where I am without them. To everyone on the Chesapeake Bay I look forward to seeing you and making memories that will last a lifetime and thank you for allowing me the opportunity to be your Queen.
Love to all,
Queen Maegan Elizabeth Kyser
